Electrical Project Manager

Connect GRP are partnering with a well-established and growing electrical contractor to recruit an experienced Electrical Project Manager for a landmark science and technology project in Oxford. This is a high-profile scheme working alongside a Tier 1 main contractor, and an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a major commercial electrical package from pre-construction through to handover and final account.
The Role
As Project Manager, you'll be accountable for the safe, timely, high-quality and profitable delivery of electrical installation works. You'll directly manage the Site Manager, work closely with the Technical Team and Quantity Surveyor, and act as the key point of contact for the client, main contractor and consultants, reporting regularly to the Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing daily project delivery through the Site Manager, keeping site activity aligned with the programme and priorities
- Preparing and maintaining 4 to 6 week lookahead programmes and agreeing recovery actions where progress falls behind
- Managing RFIs, technical submittals, design changes and installation benchmarks through to approval and resolution
- Leading coordination meetings and providing regular progress reporting to clients, the main contractor and Directors
- Working with the QS on cost to complete, forecast final cost, margin, variations, valuations and final account
- Maintaining accurate project records, including the daily office diary, delay and blocker reporting, and change control
- Maintaining management oversight of health and safety, RAMS and subcontractor compliance
- Managing subcontractor performance, labour, plant, materials and procurement lead times
- Overseeing QA, snagging, commissioning, O&M manuals, as-built drawings and project handover
- Completing monthly project reviews covering programme, commercial, design, procurement, H&S, quality and risk
About You
- Proven experience as an Electrical Project Manager within a commercial electrical or M&E contractor
- Strong background in installation management on large-scale commercial projects
- SMSTS (essential)
- Commercially aware, with experience working alongside a QS on variations, forecasting and final accounts
- Confident managing site teams, subcontractors and multiple stakeholders, including Tier 1 main contractors
- Organised and disciplined with project records, programme management and reporting
- Electrical trade background, ECS/CSCS card and experience on science, lab, education or data centre projects would be advantageous
